Design & Online Planning
Use the free online planner to design your layout, select finishes, and get a live price estimate. Alternatively, call Mike to discuss your ideas first.
The planner uses real cabinet and appliance pricing, so the estimate is a reliable starting point. You can save your design and submit it directly for a formal quote.
Responsible: You + our free planner
Site Measure & Formal Quote
Mike visits your site to take precise measurements, assess access, discuss material choices, and confirm the layout. A detailed written quote follows within 48 hours.
The site measure is free and no-obligation. The formal quote is itemised — cabinets, benchtop, and appliances are priced separately so you can see exactly what you're paying for.

Trades Rough-In
Before cabinets are installed, your licensed plumber and electrician rough-in the services: water supply, waste pipe, gas line, electrical conduit, and any lighting circuits.
Timing of the rough-in is critical. Trades must complete their work before cabinets arrive. We advise on exact rough-in positions — where the pipes and conduit need to terminate — so trades can plan accordingly.
Responsible: Licensed plumber + licensed electrician (your trades or ours)
Cabinet Manufacturing
After deposit and final design approval, your cabinets are manufactured in our workshop. Each cabinet is CNC-cut and built to your exact specifications.
The manufacturing period is when you'll also be organising your appliances (BBQ, fridge, sink) if not already done. We'll confirm appliance dimensions to ensure the cabinet openings are sized correctly.

Cabinet Installation
Delivery and installation of your outdoor kitchen cabinets. Our team sets, levels, and secures each cabinet, fitting doors and drawers.
After installation, we check all doors, drawers, and hardware. Any adjustments are made on the spot. Appliances are not yet connected at this stage — that happens after the benchtop is installed.
Responsible: MJ Leckie Carpentry installation team
Benchtop Measure-Up
Once cabinets are installed and level, the benchtop fabricator visits to make a precise template of the benchtop run. This is the step that ensures the benchtop fits perfectly around any cutouts (sink, BBQ).
Sintered stone benchtops are measured after cabinet installation — never before. This ensures the template accounts for any minor variations in the final installed position.
Responsible: Benchtop fabricator (coordinated by us)
Benchtop Fabrication & Installation
The benchtop is cut, finished, and delivered for installation. The fabricator installs and silicones the benchtop in position.
Sink and appliance cutouts are precision-cut by the fabricator based on the template. After benchtop installation, trades return to make final connections — sink waste, tap, gas line, and power.
Responsible: Benchtop fabricator + return visit from trades
Final Trades Connections & Sign-Off
Your plumber connects the sink waste and tap. The gas fitter connects the BBQ and any gas appliances. The electrician connects power points and lighting.
All connections must be completed by licensed trades. You'll receive compliance certificates for gas and electrical work — keep these for your records and for any future property sale.
Responsible: Licensed plumber, gas fitter, electrician
Why Does It Take 8–14 Weeks?
The biggest time factor is cabinet manufacturing (4–6 weeks). Outdoor kitchen cabinets are not a stock product — they are made to order, to the exact dimensions of your design, with specified door styles and finishes. This is a good thing: it means you get a kitchen that fits your space precisely.
The second time factor is the benchtop: Smartstone Sintered benchtops are templated after cabinet installation and then fabricated — a process that typically takes 5–10 business days. This is also a precision step that cannot be rushed without compromising fit.
